Where do you see that? The Golden Peak Lift was replaced by the Riva Bahn. That was the first use of that name for a lift.

Theres a place for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potatoes.

 I apologize, the Vista Bahn looked a lot like Riva Bahn because I didn't look closely.

Isn't it odd that "politics" is made up of the word "poli" meaning many, and "tics" meaning blood-sucking creatures?

the map i have shows that there is a turn.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You have to remember that map artists take liberties with terrain, etc, in order to show what is there for a skier's perspective. Also, looking at a lift in profile makes it look like there is a turn where there isn't one.

Nice map, Bryan- shows chair 9 full-length just where I thought it was while hiking around a few years ago. It also shows the old fixed-grip chair 3- when did that get replaced?

When chair 9 was shortened the lower portion on the lift line became a nice narrow fun run down to the old base. Chair 3 was replaced with a Grav/CTEC in 1995, the same year as the new gondola went in. This map was one I was able to find on skimaps.com. The old golden peak was unique in that the unload station at the top was fairly spread out and was more like two stations. There also was the midway station that served the top of the slallom run down the front of Golden Peak. The golden peak lift is had the most stations that I have ever seen on a fixed grip lift, 3 Unload and 2 load. The lift was also unique in that at the top of golden peak there was a revolving red light similar to what is found on a police car and there was a loudspeaker playing a message over and over about how you have to unload at that station.

I was also reading some back issues of The Colorado Skier and came across an issue that said that when Vail bought Meadow Mountain and shut it down they removed Meadow Mountain's Riblet and moved it to vail. Does anyone know where they installed it? It was closed in 1969. Was this possibly where Giant Steps came from? It was originaly installed at Meadow Mountain in 1966.

There also was mention of the new pomas at the top of the bowls and a poma in golden peak as being moved from some other areas. The issue listed two as comming from Hidden Valley and one from Indian Mountain near Como.

Oh ok. Did the lift from Meadow Mountain replace another one at the Broadmoor?
