It makes a turn and then it goes down the back of the ridge then back up park of the mountain behind the mid station. It apears to be about a 10-20% line turn.

So how does it do it? Detach, horizontal sheaves, etc.

It turns at the mid station and uses horizontal sheaves to turn it.

Ok, i think I mistook it for the top station. Is there just one turn or two?

just the one at the mid station. The map makes it look like it makes more turns than it really does.

Ok, because in the map it looks like it turns about 90 degrees twice, but in reality it is a bit closer in angle size to the Peak 8 Superconnect.

Its about the same as the Superconnect. It looks like it makes the two sharp turns because the mid station is on the top of a ridge, then it descends about 500 feet down to the old valley base at golden peak but it doesn't stop there anymore. Then it ascends to the base of the northwoods.

This is a shot I took while riding up just after the mid station as it descends.

That makes plenty of sense. somehow valleys and hill always give the appearance that the lift is turning. They usually get rid of that in the map though.

If you look to the bottom right of the pic you can see the old loading area for the valley station. Its the clear area that you can see through the aspens on the right lower corner. Heres a closeup of the area.

If it did it was slight but I dont think it did since the Riva Bahn makes a slight left turn and the old valley loading station is off to the right of the Riva Bahn's line.

It was actualy only one, lift an up and over, a 60s? riblet. I cant remember which end was actualy which I think the tensioning was at the base of golden peak and the drive was a traditional vault drive at the valley station. I'll check the allignment of the line next time Im up there but It is in an almost if not completely straight line but the map representation makes it look like theres a turn.

The place where it apears to turn is the top of the ridge is where you had to unload regardless of which side you are comming from. It had two load stations, one on either side of the ridge and an unload station at the top as well as a mid station on the way up the front. It looks like it turns because they can show the back of the ridge from that perspective. If there was a turn it would be something like the line turn on Chair 5 at Breck. Heres the old map showing the old golden peak lift.

It looks like the Golden Peak lift is where the Riva Bahn is today. Now, another lift in that map is named Riva Bahn, so did they just rename that lift?
