Skied at Alta the last week and noticed that the new Collins lift looks very CTECish while DV's new lift Silver Strike express is very Doppish, From the red weighted shives, to different crossarms, to the carriers. If Dopp/CTEC is one company now why do they still build differnt lifts? Judge at DV is clearly a CTEC lift. I must admit i like the styling of the CTEC towers terminals and Cross arms much better, but the Dopp catwalks appear to be much more user friendly.
I guess i thought that the new Dopp/CTEC would take the best parts of there designs and have a hybrid lift that would be the best of both worlds. Does anyone have an input on this?

The only insight I know of, and has been mentioned before, the fixed grip line is following closely to the CTEC style and the detach are following closely to the Doppish...

In the past on this forum we have talked about how CTEC will most likely run the fixed grip market since it's very strong in that market while Doppelmayr will run the high-speed market since it was very strong in that industry. However, from the way things are looking now, it seems that CTEC is have a majority of everything now and I don't know what to expect. I contacted Doppelmayr CTEC yesterday and an e-mail was replied about why Doppelmayr CTEC is using Garaventa's carrier design and whether the UNI-G and Stealth 3 terminals will be available for sale since they appear to be more popular than the current UNI-GS model, which I don't like the looks of it at all. However, the e-mail was sent to Bill and not back to me for some reason, but hopefully we will find otu very soon on what Doppelmayr CTEC is up to. But the way things are looking now, it seems like CTEC has a great influence on how the current high-speed lifts are being designed. The new UNI-GS terminal, which appears to be a cheaper lift terminal to manufacturer and it deffinalty shows on how it looks and now it seems that all the carriers are looking to be Garaventa for some odd reason. I presonally think that the new UNI-GS terminal should be scraped and Doppelmayr CTEC to continue to offer the UNI-G and Stealth 3 terminals for resorts looking for either a more reliable or cheaper high speed lift. Doppelmayr CTEC has a higher market share than the other two North American lift manufacturers, so I don't see why it doesn't do this.

That explains the DV side of things and seems logical but leaves the Colins as more of a mystery.

The new Colins lift at Alta was most likely being designed and built before Doppelmayr CTEC designed to retire the Stealth 3 terminal design. I believe this was the first Stealth 3 terminal that was built to have a mid station and turn to it, so it would take some time to design and that's why it's a Stealth 3 than a UNI-GS.

Rose Mt also got a six-pack that had a Stealth 3 design and it could have been ordered before the Stealth 3 design was retired or Doppelmayr CTEC had an extra Stealth 3 six pack terminal.

Anyone know if you can order CTEC or Doppelmayr sheaves with your lift, or if you don't get a choice anymore? The best (to my mind) is to continue to offer both so established CTEC areas don't have to buy new equipment to work on Doppelmayr sheaves.

Our Uni-GS has doppelmayr carriers and doppelmayr grips. The lift is actually kinda nice....huge amount of space in the terminals and lots of light. As for alta's lift, they planned ahead of time and bought the last two stealth 3's as that is what Collins is...it's just two lifts "glued" together...they just took the turn arounds out of the two terminals at the mid station and put a couple of rails in and terminal skin. I understand that they're going to try and engineer something like dropping a turnaround tire bank in either of the two terminals in case one of them takes a shit..that way the whole lift isn't down.

I rode the Silver Strike lift at DV today, right after lunch, it opened at 12, I guess I was one of the first on it. It's new and different for DV: 90 degree loading, a 5 degree or so turn to the right about a quarter of the way up, Garaventa chairs (I like these, they're pretty comfy), and the new coil spring grips. I like it a lot more than I expected, the terminal is growing on me after a few days

The two new grip styles can probably use the same terminal except for the opening rail, they're the same shape and size, that makes it easier to build the terminals for either style. The hanger arms are the same too, they can use almost the same terminal for either style.

As for the FG lifts, the only difference I've spotted is the chair number stickers, the new stickers are the same CTEC design, but the new logo is subbed in and everything is in blue. Also, it's placed on the front instead of the back for the FGs while the detachables still have them on both sides.

Is the DC website ever gonna have a UNI-GS brochure?

I don't know, it's hardly updated.

When I was at Moonlight, the recently installed lifts there like the six-shooter and lone tree lifts have a new number plate on them. It says Doppelmayr CTEC with the Doppelmayr D logo on it.

Tyler, did you get any pictures of the new HSQ at DV?

The new Powderbowl Express at Heavenly is a UNI-G, and the Village Express at Northstar is a GS. Perhaps the UNI-G will still be available, just at increased cost.

Maybe the GS is just for express quads and the G will be the standard for 6's, maybe 8's and gondolas for some time.

OK, yesterday I got 17 pics of the Silver Strike GS (I got everything, terminals, chairs, grips, line gear, the turn, and all that) at DV and 3 of the Judge lift. They'll be up when either we get home, or the computer decides to work again and I can get off the 1990 IBM without a USB port

I think there was an ad in SAM saying that the UNI-GS terminal was available for 6 packs too.

Maybe I was mistaken... I am having second thoughts...

Whatever the case, the new lift at Heavenly sure looks a world better than the new lift at Northstar (then again, they did choose the worst color scheme for the Village Express - Orange).

Orange, too bad I doubt I'll see it this year; northstar is just too crappy. Anyways I kinda doubt Powderbowl is a GS mainly because on the windows on the ends of the terminal. It is huge compared to Eagle at mammoth but I dont know, maybe its some sort of hybrid.
