I have my Hyak site hosted on freeservers.com and my family website hosted on yoursite.com. Freeservers has been very stable for me for the past 5 years but yoursite gives more 'frills' at a bit less $$$. I don't use yoursite daily as I do my freeservers site so I do not really know if there has been downtime, but it seems to be fine.

For free hosting I'd suggest Geocities.

I host myself. I also host Zack's Boardmonger.com site, as well as 12 other sites.

The easiest option is usually to go with your internet provider's service if they have one. For example My provider gives 25mb add free with a relatively short URL which when gicing to friends is a big plus!

Also look at the pricing and the reliabilty, ask them for a performance record. I have seen some people offer space and say their system is 99.99% up, but in reality its been down alot more. Also ask who hosts them, if its a straight host, think twice (soemone with a server in a house or local business), get one in the backbone and such (like your ISP). In my case I am reselling, and the server that this site and my other 15 sites are on the main backbone. Also big note dont just go price, check to see if its a legitimate business and they wont take a years worth of money and then close shop, like a certain company which I wont name. Cameron knows the company too.

Bill,

The host that i have been with For over 1 year now. he hosts out of his House per say. There has only been one Major Downtime and that was due to a DDOS Attack. He @ least 15 Dedicated Servers. And 2 Shared Hosting Servers. He has a 3mbit line, a 10mbit line, and a backup dsl and backup Cable lines.

and that would be Globaldc.com

I have refer alot alot of people to him and they are all happy.

I'm kind of confuesed Jeff, but a while back you said that you owned your own servers and hosted websites on them and referred to them being located at your house too. Now you're saying that you have a hosting company that hosts your websites. So what did you do with all your old web hosting servers and stuff?

Hey pusher, im interested in the space you offer...can things be deep linked, can i upload video files, and is there size limit for each file?

Another good, free host is one I use. You have unlimited space and bandwidth, they seem to be pretty good. The only thing I dont like about them is the free accounts have a 1mb size on each file, which can be annoying at times, thats why im asking pusher about their space. Check out http://hostultra.com/ anyway, they may be good for you.

Cameron Those Webservers have been moved to my dad's office. As for hosting videos It depends on what hte videos are and how big each one is / expected # of downloads a month.

most of the videos would be below 1mb and they probably wouldent be downloaded too much at the rate i'm at now. The videos are just funny videos, not "mature" content

I have a reseller account, which means I am paying for a server from a hosting company. You could buy one (see your local computer store), but there is alot more than just going home and plugging in your server. You need a continious connection to your server to the internet, and the fast the better. Plus you also need to make it so people can see your server and I have no experience in setting that up.
