What are those boxes for exactly?

They look to be the step-down transformers for the lift(s).

They would actually run 460v or 575v in the ground? In our business we do alot of stepping up, 230v to 460v, etc. Easier than trying to get the city to give us the voltage requirement.

Yep! The lines coming in from the utility to the transformers are probably way higher than that, and are stepped down to 460-575 to the lift. Well that's how it works here... The power supply to the t-bar/carpet/red chair is a 600v buried, the supply to paradise/motherlode/silverlode are 13,000v or something buried. High voltage, low amperage, the transformers change it to low(er) voltage higher amperage. Hope that made sense haha!

Great Pics WBSKI!!!

In the foreground, a transformer to take power from 25,000 volts to 480 for lift power. In the background, a switch to turn power to the transformer off in case someone needs to work on it.
