I didnt realize that the chairs were that far apart. I did find the line at the base to be interesting. Just a free for all up a ramp. I guess since the chair was being ridden mostly by racers it just didnt stop often so the lines seemed to go quickly.

Palmer's probably spaced further apart for wind issues, same as the proposed lift at Breck. At 2400 PPH, carriers are 100 feet apart (assuming a line apeed of 1000 FPM). At 1800, they're up to 150'. Plus, as I recall, several of the towers are leftovers from the original Riblet lift, and I would imagne the line load needs to be a bit lower for them.

Yea, those tower foundations looked pretty new if you ask me from when I was up there. I asked this a while back when we were talking about glacier footings and everyone said they were riblet.

I guess what they could do with the Breck lift is have it put in now, and when they rip out 6 they can change the current top 6 and bottom of the HSQ into a midstation, for loading and unloading. They could also add more carriers.

That sounds like it would be more of a hastle than it would be worth. They might as well just stick to the original plan of two separate lifts. But then again its Breck so they are always interested in interesting lifts.

You bet Breck is interested in weird lifts. They have done a lot with Poma and a little with Dopp. They have the current quicksilver, which double loads, the Peak 8, which has a midstation, and Snowflake, which makes a 45 degree turn. Those are from Poma. They have the turning T-bar and the Original Quicksilver (which was the first HSQ in the world) from Dopp.

When was the Peak 8 bowl access lift removed. I was just wondering because I have no recollection of it.
Not to mention that they want to add a gondola with three or four stations and makes a turn at each.

It will be 4 stations. One at the now free parking(which will probably become pay parking and possibly a garage) then up to the shock hill neighborhood with a turn, up to peak 7 another turn and then to peak 8 where they are eventualy hoping to build a new grand hotel at the peak 8 base and eliminate all the parking except for hotel guests.
The Poma was removed when the T-Bar went in, so '84? It ran on a different line though. It ran up the other side of the bowls. Heres a map showing the approximate lines of all the old lifts that I did for another topic. Chair 1 also had a midway station a the base of chair 2 I think it was for loading but I don't remember.

Do you have any maps that you have or can edit for us like that Breck one so we can see some of the removed lifts? I forgot to tell you that really appreciated the map since I could see what lifts were replaced with what and where some lifts would be today.
