Hi!
St. Anton has 10 high speed lifts! They built quite a lot, because of the Ski World Championship in 2001(?) ! They have 10 highspeed chairlift and two detachable gondolas and planing some more next year! With the skiticket you can also ski lech+zuers. They have an additional 9 high speed chairlifts and the detachable 8 seater posted above! Have a look at :
http://intermaps.fer...kimaps/arlberg/
and for st.anton:
http://intermaps.fer...ps/arlberg_ost/

It is one of the best ski areas I know! I go to lech every year for 1 or two weeks! There is even another little area included in the skipass.
More Infos you will find at www.skiarlberg.net
info for lech and zuers: http://www.lech-zuers.at and http://www.stantonamarlberg.com/

Go there! It is worthy, but don't forget to ski zuer and lech for some days! If you need more Info, don't hasitate to contact me!

You are right! At the moment it is cheaper for us going to the states! But it will change another day!

But, if you like skiing off pist You really have to go there! There are no trees like you have in America! Trees you just have up to 1.500 metres! ! ! ! ! ! !! The ski areas usually start at 1000-1500 metres!

The easy rider chair at sierra at tahoe takes about 1.5 mins to ride.

With 30 or 31 carriers and 4 towers easy rider has to be the shortest I've seen or ridden.

:temper: Won' t let me edit so double post again.

There are quite a few 8 packs in Europe, the interesting thing is they mostly don't operate at theoretical maximum capacity. They use an 8 pack to get about the same or a little higher capacity than a quad, but with much larger carrier intervals to make loading and unloading easier. Also gondolas are great access lifts but kind of a pain if you're doing laps on it. Some of our managers just got back from Europe and looked at a heap of 6 and 8 packs and found that an 8 pack with a loading carpet (inside a building) works quite well. Doppelmayrs new system has the skiers timed onto the carpet through a gate then run off the end of the carpet onto the load board. You're actually standing back on the snow when you load. Apparently its pretty slick.

I think I may know of a shorter lift than any of the lifts mentioned in this thread. Its at Mt. Holly in lower MI. It has only 20 some chairs on the whole lift. I don't know the exact length, but its got to be close to the shortest if not the shorts HSQ out there.

Yeah, I haven't been to PERISHER since they "joined" Perisher, Blue Cow and Guthega together.

I can't remember what it was called but it replaced Chipmunk fiex grip double at Sierra Ski Ranch. Maybe it was called Extacy...
