Hey, if I had the place that would be no problem. We would just have to get the stuff you need, maybe you could teach us some stuff. Plus I dont think one more person would kill the place. :)
After looking on ebay, they relisted the place 2 days before it sold, so I'm not expecting it to sell soon. Now if it was a million flat, there could be a chance, but probably not

After a little look around, he showed us inside the lodge which was also torn up a bit, but it could be repaired. Inside the "office" he showed us a model and a trail map. The model was really cool because it showed everything, so lifts runs and buildings. I have pictures and will try to post them soon. So the last thing is probably the abundance of lift parts sitting in the parking lot. I didn't go and examine it all, but it looked like YAN, Riblet and SLI chairs with a bunch of other junk mixed in. Also in the other parking lot was 2 Riblet overhead drives, but I'm not sure where the return bullwheels, towers and chairs were.
So as far as the sale goes, we were told an offer of 1.25 million was put in last week. The bidders want to clean it up and have a co-op sort of thing with several nice cabins put in. He said that only chair 1 needs to be fixed up, so if the deal goes through, we may be seeing some cool stuff. He told us several snowboard compaines were interested, but none came through with offers.
So I got some pictures but some are blurry because of the light and camera spaz. I'll post them on monday or so. And one last little fact is that Iron was the first resort in california to allow snowboarding, so workers at Kirkwood would take time off and come ride the slopes at Iron.

Ok, first is Chiar 1, an SLI double that looks to be in very good condition. It is decent length and vertical. Its about 2,500 feet long with probably just under 1000 vertical.

Anyways it all looked to be in good condition. The chairs were all on and the terminal just needs some new wood to make it look shiny. Its a real shame that it must be taken out (no way to re-acquire the permit) as the guy said is gave access to the best terrain on the mountain. Maybe the guy who buys it can make a quick land swap with the national forest, just for the liftline.

So when is your timeline for going up there next year? Possibly a vacation in the Tahoe area maybe in store.
