Just for fun I was wondering how do you guys make your trailmaps. I was wondering if there was a better way than pencil and paper. :help:

Ive tried using computers, but i always prefer how a hand drawn map comes out. When I draw mine, I usually do it in sections. I will use my 3 peaks map as an example. So first I drew the main face area to the right, when I draw in the runs, I will usually just outline the tree areas and shade them in later when all is done. I then work my way over, in this case next was the main summit area, then comes the next area to the right. I then did the next front face and connected it to the rest, then the lost peak area, and finally the East Peak section. I like to draw it in the order it was "constructed". Once I've drawn in the lifts and everything fits I will begin shading the tree areas, in the same fashion, one area at a time. Once all is done, I will decide the difficulty of each run, and when I'm not lazy, I will name them.

i love making trail maps, i have a huge collection of them, and i have made 2 so far, i have used pencil and paper, but i am going to use water colors for my next one. they are fictional resorts, based around my fictional co pany, The Western Skiing Company, and i hope to have a few more in the next couple of years.

My Trail Map efforts...This is for an existing area in Central MA. As you can see it is a really small area, t-bar service only. They are actually using this map.
