In the spirit of the bumper sticker which reads 'make welfare as hard to get as a building permit', here's a thought: make all wilderness-related governmental decisions run through the same review process. That would make new wilderness 'lockups' like in Utah as hard to push through as a ski area expansion; or, conversely, expansion as quick and easy as wilderness set-asides seem to happen. Over the years, I've noticed a double standard in this regard. Wilderness areas in Washington, at least, seem to happen overnight while ski areas must wait years or even decades for aproval. I realise that wilderness is disappearing fast, but while I'm no raving industrialist, I think there should be a more balanced approach in this regard. Some wilderness enthusiasts seem to think that these areas are so sacred that unless you're in top shape for backpacking, you can't go see some of the most majestic areas in the country. Skiing and ski areas (especially with improved installation methods) are some of the lowest-impact uses in the mountains, especially when one looks back at the clearcuts of the 70s and 80s. I don't think the review process is necessarily bad, just... long-winded?

Amen Jon Amen

I'd like to see the white house a donkey again and something done about Airbus. I'd like to see a more balenced aproach on wilderness expansion as you said above. I'd like to see more respect for the teens in this nation as not all of us are complete idiots. I'd like to see a revised education system based upon the pass fail and a abolishment of the current 1'st 2'nd etc grade system. I'd like to see it easeir for new bussnesses to start and not be clobbered by the large ones. I'd like to see a new commitment bye the world to stop global warming and look at alternatives for fuel rather than oil.

Of course the only one I think may have a chance is the first one

GO JOHN KERRY!

John Deere made a tractor in the eighties that ran on either vegtable oil or salad dressing.

They call it Bio diesel. Usually canola based, saskatoon transit has two 40 ft busses that run specifically on that fuel.

Well really you can use bio diesel in any diesel engine. They make several different mixes of it, some with more canola then others. The city of Berkely runs all its city vehicles (that are diesel of course) on the fuel. Also, down in Capitola, we went by a bus that said it was powered purley by vegetable oil. The fuel gives off a nice smell, kinda like french fries.

For things I'd like to see, an Alpine Squaw interconnect, people giving teens more respect as Erik noted, you wouldnt believe some looks i get for skateboarding, and sometimes even surfing, a new more efficient fuel source, water would be best. (Did you know the first talk of "hybrid" technology was in the early 60s? Its just getting going now). I would like to see less unhappy people, especially vacationers, and lastly I would like to see a less corrupt government and california get out of debt under the Governator's command.
