I found this on Lake Louise's website, advertising the new Summer Sightseeing lift. It's a Leitner HSQ in the Winter, and a tourist Gondola in the summer... these cabins sure look similar to Squaw's old poma gondola, and I remember someone saying that more cabins have gone missing....so could this be them?

Well based on my crummy picture, they look the same! I wouldnt be suprised because the only other place that probably has a few that i can think of would be northstar. Based on that picture, they appear to be the same, but seeing the inside or just a larger picture would help, and i guess we could ask them as well.

Here is my crappy pic of the old 6's sitting in their parking:

Heres a shot of a bunch of lonley hanger arms. The would probably use newer ones since those are from the mid 80s, and i am sure they have some better ones out there now.

That may be, but if they're in good shape and fit the cabins, why get new ones?

Things like hanger arms would cost more than you think, so resorts don't generally throw old things away - unless they have to.

The only change Lake louise would have had to make is swapping grips from Poma TB's to Leitner Grips

Im not sure if those hanger arms are different, but i thought they looked different. If we had a larger picture, it would be alot easier to tell.

Why would they have to change the grips couldn' they just keep the old Lietner grips and save some $$?

I don't know if your last sentence made any sense Erik, but the gondola at Squaw was a POMA while the possible gondola cabins now are being run on a Leitner lift. Usually, a different grip won't work for a different lift manufacturer so I thinks that's the case we are seeing here. However, I think you meant to say is why Lake Louise didn't keep the hanger arm? Possibly, the Leitner grip couldn't attach itself to that former hanger arm used on Doppelmayr's and POMA's. Also, I'm not sure if you noticed this or not, but there seems to be no cabin guide on the bottom of the cabin that POMA used until the new Omega terminal design came out and the cabin guide rail system was never built for this lift. So this could be another reason why there is a Leitner hanger arm now to help stabilize the cabin before it enters the terminal.

The Poma hanger arm might not be the right shape to fit inside the Leitner terminal too
