The terminal design of the newest Borvig lifts (basically, the ones at Berthoud) is the exact same design of the Partek terminals (not to undermine Partek at all - just an observation)

The reason why Borvig and Partek lifts look so much alike is because the founder of Borvig ski lifts son I think, Hagon, runs Partek. Hagon is actually a member of this forum so maybe he can shed some light.

I knew that, but i didn't know they retained the designs to such an extent. Were the Berthoud lifts the only Borvig lifts that had that design?

It's hard to tell...Do they both use the same chair design?

the chair design is the only major difference between these Borvig lifts and the Partek lifts. Borvig's have horizontal wooden slats and footrests, but partek's have plastic backs and no footrests.

Gentlemen,

Partek lifts and Borvig lifts are very different. The Borvig lifts you show photos of at Berthoud Pass were built from 1988 to 1991. The 2-leg design was not my favorite. Partek chairs are entirely different from Borvig chairs. The grips are the same as are the sheave wheels. The sheave assemblies are different as well. The Partek 4-leg terminal is definetly not similar to the Borvig terminals.

Borvig used Kissling gearboxes, Partek uses a planetary. Borvig used Rexroth tension pumps, Partek uses an on-demand design. The drive enclosures are also very different.

A good place to see our latest equipment is at our website www.partekskilifts.com. The lift in the photo was built in 1998. Please note that the colors/galvanized terminal legs were definitely not our choice! By the way, that lift has over 10,000 hours of operation already. In less than 2 years there were over 30,000 recorded stops and starts! It is the only beginner lift at Mountain Creek and it runs all the time. Mountain Creek (Vernon Valley) is the ultimate proving ground for any lift, lots of traffic and lots of run hours. Other than the usual electrical bug, that lift has had no breakdowns.

Our latest lifts are far improved from 1998 production. Check the site for photos and info.

Thank you,

Hagen Schulz

FYI,

Should anyone be interested in seeing a new Partek being installed, you can go to the website for Hyland Ski and Snowboard in Minnesota. We are removing a 1982 Borvig triple and installing a Partek Quad. The construction started on 7/13, the old lift will entirely down by 7/16! The new lift will be standing within 2 weeks ready for wiring. The ski area web site has a webcam, you can watch live footage.

Randy Blenis of Ropeway Construction is installing the lift.

Enjoy

No it isn't- the Borvig terminal looks like the Poma Alpha terminals. Any shared design there, or was it pure coincidence?
