Very good pictures! I've always wanted to see that tow. Liftmech - there's some pictures of a couple more CP Thiokols in the gallery.

The Rustler logde lift at Alta was made out of extra chairs they had after they took the old CTEC triple carriers off of Sugarloaf and put them on Supreme. They had some extras and used i believe the old top and bottom stations of sugarloaf for the stations. I've ridden it a couple times and they only run it when some one has to get up it.

BTW John never answered your question did I yes the lifts at Solitude are Thiokal and from recent info from Cameron the Summit was built by CTEC but was built with Thiokal designs if I understood him right.

It must have been among the first CTEC then, because some of the engineers from Thiokol took that lift division out on its own around the time Thiokol got the Space Shuttle contract. The first several years of CTEC were basically Thiokol under a new name.
Something I've always wondered, though, is what CTEC stands for? The 'T' is probably Thiokol, but the rest?

I had to ride the rustler lift just because it was the smallest chairlift i had ever seen. Also when i was there i found out that large bullwhells at the ends of the transfer tow actually have magnets in then. It is interesting to see because the tows actually stick to it when it goes around.

Yeah the magnets are unique as well as the entire tow. The lifty at the Rustler lift (they ussually only have one at the bottom) has one of the easeist jobs sit there and when someone needs the lift turn it on.

They used to have one but with Alta trying to up its PR a rope tow to its' fanciest hotel and Resturant probally didn't look realy good and if you have the parts why not build a lift that although many local people won't care about will up travelers' opinoins it probally didn't cost much in terms of the return they got in PR.

Can you just get off the transfer tow whenever you want so that you can get to that lift? May be a dumb question, but I just want to be sure.

You can get on and off the transfer tow whenever you want which is quite nice especially if you've traversed over toward the Albion side from Collins on a nice little face there that can have a bunch of volkswagons on it. Anyway that transfer tow replaced a bunch of little rope tows that from my understanding you had to grab onto one and then at the end of that one grab onto the next.
