Getting to the top I found a crew at working on the lift, converting the egress area for summer use. I also discovered that the although mechanics of the top drive terminal is similar, the 'Doppelcake' profile is covered. I'm not sure whether this was part of the original construction or done after the fact.

That looks like our spring on the Eagle- one crew doing line work while another builds the deck. The covered terminal is original; that's the motor room so you need a roof on.

THose lifts look to be VERY well maintained. Do you have any idea when the doppelcake was built?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It was built in 1989. What's a doppelcake?

It's the Name we've adopted for very thin terminals with covers only over the working parts. I think it originated from it looking "pancake" thin. So we use the lift manufacturer infront of Cake to identifiy these lifts. Probably the most inamous is the Yancake followed by the Leintnercake and the Doppelcake. Numerous examples can be found around the site. Lake louise had a Yancake, other examples of Doppelcakes are some lifts at Keystone. There is a good Leintnercake @ big white and one at Solvista.
