Well when I was at Snowbird, a lift mechanic was kind enough to give me a tour of the tram. The tram is 4 to 5 stories high, 5 if you want to count the counterweight shafts.

Well lets start stuff off with the tram's stats:

The red tram's counterweight. Each tram has it's own counterweight, while smaller trams share one.

Looking up at the red tram from the maintenance floor. The hooks still remain in the cabin from when it carried up the Mineral Basin Express' top terminal.

Very cool. So when you load the tram do you go by the motor because there is a sign that says "welcome to the snowbird aerial tram"?

This is the fourth floor and if you put your hand on that wire coming off of the red bullwheel, you can feel the harmonics of the lift as a cabin passes over the towers. It's a really weird feeling.

Here is the red trams carriage.

And to answer Zack's question, the only place where you will see this plaque or whatever it's called is when your going to where the lift mechanics hang out or the lockers.

Very cool I was there over winter break. The control room looks so 70's when I was there. :)

Looks nice, I got a tour of the Summit Express @pico a couple days ago. Plenty of pictures but I can't get them off of my camera to my computer till I get home in 4 weeks. I'll post ASAP.

Is that the haul rope or part of the evac system? I wouldn't think it's the haul rope as you don't want to put your hand on a moving 10 m/s rope.

7.5 m/s. Anyway, it makes no difference.

Still, it's steel cable and it would slice up your hand pretty mad. Maybe it's some sort of sensor?

There are three ropes on the tram two stationary and a moving one i believe could be reversed anyway they did a major overhaul recently so they could run the tram in much larger winds and rougher conditions at higher speeds.
