Grant wanted to know where some of the old (removed) lifts at Breck were located, so I though we could discuss others as well since I'm sure everyone has a question or two on the subject. I'll start with what I know about Breck, and maybe someone else has more accurate info.

Peak 9- A-chair used to run clear down to town, and then was shortened to make way for the original Quicksilver (which, as we all know, is at Owl's Head now). B-chair basically paralled Beaver Run; you can still see two or three towers which were kept for a patrol evacuation practise setup. D-chair ran roughly where Merc is now, but in a slightly different alignment.
On Peak 8, 1-chair ran near the Rocky's current alignment. 2-chair began just below the midpoint of the current Colorado's line, and then crossed it, running up towards the top of 4-chair. That lift ran on the upper portion of the SuperConnect. I think that the T-bar is officially designated 3-lift, but I could be wrong.

On to Copper:
We've mentioned individual lifts, but here's the full list. B-lift began to the right (looking uphill) of Super B, crossed under the linearound tower 6, and topped out at the junction of Oh No and Rosi's. B-1 began at the top of Formidable, just off Rosi's, and ran parallel to Super B but straight up Oh No/Encore. It did not go quite as far uphill as Super B does; instead it topped out on the flats below A-1. Double E and Triple E ran from just to the right of Excelerator to the to of B-1. (Double E went down in 1984 because it was the most popular lift on the hill and needed hight capacity. The same holds true for Triple E in 1998, aside from the fact that it was a Yan of the vintage that had issues.) F ran from just to the right of the base of the Eagle to right next to Solitude Station. It crossed the current Eagle line around tower 7, and you can see the upper portion of the line between Bittersweet and Main Vein. G began between the bases of the Eagle and Flyer and ran under the Flyer and up Loverly. (editorial: it would have made a great terrain park lift since Loverly has been converted to the Catalyst Park in recent years, but it was removed before the park went in.) Lastly, I and J ran on either side of Timberline Express, up I-Beam and Windsong respectively.

Crystal Mountain (WA):
C-2 began right next to the top of C-1, and ended about where the top shack of Rex is. The counterweight tube is towards Mt Rainier from where Rex is now; you can see the footings for the angle tube as well. C-3 ran from just uphill of the current lift, and ended in the same spot. C-5 originally began next to the bottom of C-4, and was shortened to the flats below the top of C-1 when Midway went in. C-9 and C-11 ran exactly where their replacements are. The T-bar ran parallel to C-7 in its current alignment, and C-7 used to run northeast of the current ski area where you can still see the old trails.

I agree with you on Breck, except that you have D and B mixed up, The one thing I learned in Ski School was what the towers were on the side of Beaver Run. See this map.

That's where I saw them from as well. Grant- your map lists the Beaver Run lift as the Mercury, and I could have sworn our guide the day I skiied there told us the old towers were from B-chair. Did the names (of the detachables, at least) get swapped later on?

The original name for the Beaver Run was the mercury, Beaver Run (The Resort) was built a year after the chair. Sometime after that they changed the name, I know that it was before 95'. Our ski instructer that day knew a guy in the ski patrol and we rode up Beaver Run with him, thats when I asked him what the towers were.

Grant, your going to have to reduce the size of those maps in an image editor or something to be able to view them. Maybe you can but I doubt the people with slow internet can't.

I can't download the maps either...
I believe B-chair was a Riblet like the rest of the original Peak 9 lifts. 1- and 2- chairs were Herons, and the rest of Peak 8's original lifts were Riblets as well.

You still can't get them? It worked for my cable internet and I even used the dial-up on my moms PC to test it and it worked.

Still can't download them, and they don't even show up as a thumbnail. All I get is a box with a red 'x' in it.
