this thread is for lifts built since 2010, so new lpa systems.

I think that both of their detachable terminals look great, although I think that Doppelmayr's fixed grip terminals are much better looking than LPA's. As for chairs, I think that LPA chairs are more comfortable.

Ha I thought it read Ipa vs. Dopp. I will vote for a good Ipa any day. The hoppier the better.

I might have go go with a doppelbock myself. Not really a hop guy myself.

But to seriously answer one of your questions, I really like the new telfs chairs that LPOA is using now, especially if they have the multicolored seat pads. It lets everyone know exactly where they need to sit.

There's a lack of new LP lifts in my state, but the newer dopp ones are quite comfortable IMO, no wonder the designs haven't changed much (well, they have, but all the ones here are UNI-G/GS on the new ones, DT-104s, and EJ's)

One must remember that a lot of the design is driven by the requirement ... you're spinning a wire rope at speed and attaching/detaching carriers from it ... there really aren't all THAT many different ways to accomplish this task.

And in many ways, today's designs are more refinement than anything ... lifts are a pretty mature technology at this point.

Be good to see how the new Doppelmayr D-Line is for comfort.

I've mentioned it before, but EJ chairs don't fit my body well. The new CS-10(?) chairs on Powder Seeker are a lot nicer, but you can't keep the poles between your legs. I have to go LP for rider comfort.

We are lucky to have new lifts from both manufacturers here in Colorado. The new LPA-OC (I think, correct me if I am wrong) chairs used on lifts like Vail's new Chair 9 and Colorado and Kensho at Breck are very comfortable. I also like the wood underbody of the LPA terminals so I would have to say LPA is my favorite, especially since they are a Colorado company too. That said, the new Doppelmayr lift are very nice as well

Rob,

After seeing the D-Line in Austria last winter, its a little bit of a downer we are building lifts this coming year. Mostly from a maintenance standpoint.

Yeah, it would be nice to start on the newer design. Only seen the video/photos of the new design, but looks good from the maintenance standpoint. I'll be pressuring the company when we replace Wizard. (not that I have any influence)

Is the implication that D-line is not available for installation in North America this summer?

If you want the lift out of Europe and are prepared to pay for it you could probably get one. I had heard that most likely they will be available next year as a higher end option over the UNI-G. Given the UNI-G will be cheaper, I imagine the D-lines will only be sold to buyers looking for a "statement" lift.

I wasn't following ski lifts closely the last time there was a change like this. How long does it take to fully implement the new line? Also, will the UNI-G stay around as a cheaper option or will it be entirely replaced?

Doppelmayr said they wanted to build a few D-Lines a days drive from Wolfort to support the new line. All were bottom drive because of the direct drive motor. I think but don't quote me they built another 10 this summer then they would open it up to the US the summer of 2018. Maybe too much schnapps.

Quick question, I know there is only one UNI-GV terminal in North America (River Run at Keystone) but does the D-Line mean that the UNI-GV will be phased out too or will it remain alongside the UNI-G?
