no

On a more serious note, the frequency of these incidents is really making me think... why all the sudden now? The likelihood that coverage was only starting this season seems out of the question.

I was going to put this up from Imgur. Not sure how true the story is but the pics are good.

I dunno what's going on here ... this is at least the third or fourth incident involving backpacks (or snowboard leashes) attached to chairs ... and those are only the ones that made the news. I bet there are many more that didn't.

People need to wake up and be careful, or the next guy hanging by the neck isn't gonna have a buddy who can walk down a lift cable and -- literally -- save his life.

The imgur story is absolutely true - the resort has confirmed it.

The guy is a champion slackliner (we're talking Red Bull sponsored abilities here), and pretty much climbed the tower and walked right down the wire to the chair, climbed down, and cut the guy's backpack free.

At the resorts I go to, the loading instruction signs do have something that reads along the lines of "Remove backpacks before loading". Probably to avoid cases of this.

Skied with a backpack once, My simple rule was to tuck or tie all straps I never really used away. I'd imagine those are what get caught, so it makes sense to manage them.
