No less than THREE news reports this past weekend of kids falling off lifts ... all teenagers, all snowboarders ...

One whose backpack got stuck on the chair (and around the top he went)
One who didn't take his backpack off and slipped off because he wasn't firmly seated ...

And the grand prize winner :

The kid who got tired of the weight of his snowboard, so he clipped the leash to the chair.

Bindings and leash were tested and proved that yes, indeed, they can support the weight of a 14 year old boy + bulky winter clothes.

In all three cases ski patrol, bystanders, and lift crews got the child down safely.

Let's hope this is just early season rustiness, and not an indication of a very long winter ...

Do you have links for any of these? That last one is ridiculous.

I've had a bag get caught on a chair before. Ragdolled around the bullwheel and hit the stop gate. Didn't get injured so I had a pretty good laugh about it. I'm honestly not sure how you can get much beyond the stop though.

Yeah, in all these cases, the lift got stopped quick, and patrol got the guy down OK.

News report on the leash guy : http://www.kdrv.com/...nowboarder.html

(maybe was an adult, not a teenager, seems unclear; either way kinda dumb thing to do)

I remember first day last season so many ski racer kids kept going around the turn, so much that it seemed to be on purpose. Doesn't hold a candle to this though...
