In the wake of the Sunday River incident, the Highlands is closed next week so that additional anchors can be installed on the top terminal.

Closure for Trail Maintenance and Lift Service
Highland Mountain Bike park will be closed next week, Monday, August 15th–Wednesday, August 17th and will re-open on Thursday August 18th. Highland will be working in conjunction with the New Hampshire Tramway board to make necessary enhancements to our chairlift. Additional anchors will be installed to the summit terminal. These anchors will increase the safety of the chairlift by approximately three times the State of New Hampshire requirement. While the chairlift terminal is being enhanced, the trail crew will be working round the clock to perform trail maintenance throughout the mountain.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. Highland will be open the remainder of August everyday!

Always liked the idea of that bike park. Seems like this was precautionary work I take it.
