Long title, short question. Why were there no major YAN HSQs retrofitted by Garaventa CTEC or Leitner? I know that poma and doppelmayr did lots of these, but why were they the only ones? Would they not retrofit them, and only offer replacing them? Or were no YAN HSQ owners going to use either of these manufacturers to retrofit?

The closest I can find to a Retrofit by one of these is Carpenter at DV, which is basically a new install with old towers.

I'm pretty sure neither company was a major producer of detachable lifts at the time the high speed quads were being retrofitted, but don't quote me on it.

I understand that with leitner, but this seemed to be right when the Garaventa CTEC run started. Just look at vail.
Pride was 1993, two years before retros
Riva was 1996, one year after
wildwood was 1995, the year of the retros
And Beaver creek:
Bachelor was 1997, two years after
Strawberry was 1994, one year before
and Cinch was 96' one year after

And thats not mentioning the Utah (Specifically Cottonwoods and PCMR valley) intake of Garaventa CTEC HSQs, which was much more.

I think Garaventa CTEC didn't want anything to do with YAN technology or didn't get any offers, and I think Leitner was unknown in the states at that point.

After pondering it for a bit, I think it actually might have just been coincidence that basically everyone buying CTECs had no YAN HSQs to retrofit or replaced them completely (possibly keeping the same towers).

Keep in mind the amount of engineering that went into those retrofits. With two companies competing for what was essentially a limited and temporary market, it made no sense for Garaventa and Leitner to enter.

Garaventa CTEC replaced another one that summer too, Prospector HSQ at PCMR, a 1989 Yan (does anyone have a pic?). Capacity upgrade to the Silverlode six pack (hard to believe that was 20 years ago)

Does anyone have photos of the old Prospector HSQ at PCMR? I can't find anything anywhere...

No photos, sorry. Did a big search online but they did not seem very eager to document the HSQ.

Leitner did not establish their base in North America until late 1997. Therefore no work on the retrofits that were done prior.
