So the ban really isn't that effective since it's so easy to work around it....

Only effective because the guy is a 'local' and probably isn't going to purchase too many single day tickets at $139 each as a 'work around'...

While a person that has been banned could technically purchase an individual ticket with cash they would be risking possible arrest if discovered.
Despite what the Aspen Times reported I don't believe anyone has been charged with a crime in this case. There have been no follow-up articles and as of the last article Aspen Police stated special circumstances prevented them from releasing any names.

Lesson learned there is ... if you're operating a chairlift, and you see someone fall off, it's not your place to decide "do I report this" ... it's your ski patrol's job to decide "do we investigate this" .... that kid who didn't report this should get a talking to about procedure and "the right thing to do" ...
Here's a question ... if a liftie sees something like that, can they intercept the persons of interest (e.g., the guy that pushed someone off the chair, and the witness who was also on the chair) and in any way hold them for Ski Patrol?
The article makes it very clear the act was witnessed by the operator as the chair was just shy of the top.
Seems to me like an opportunity for that was missed here ...
