Sunnyside (former Powder Park) at Bridger is a top drive with carpet. That's a 95 and it didn't look like they did any retrofitting, although I can in no way confirm that.

I believe they also needed a new drive to add a load carpet. I was skiing at Mountain Creek once and I was talking to a lift mechanic when I asked about whether it was possible to add a load carpet to one of their fixed grip quads that stopped a lot. It isn't possible without a computer controlled drive system. I guess the carpet speed can't sync up with the lift speed without it. The lift I asked about adding one to was a 1998 Doppelmayr FGQ. Unless they replace the entire drive system, they can't add a load carpet. However, they have a 2012 Partek Double which although it isn't designed for a load carpet at the moment, can have one added without replacing any of the drive system.

One interesting thing I've noticed is that most if not all fixed grip lifts with load carpets are bottom drive. I wonder if that's just a coincidence, or if it is harder to install a carpet on a top drive lift.

Crystal had two loading carpets in the 90s. Both were on top-drive, analog-controlled lifts. The carpet speed was synced by a belt-driven cable tach identical to Poma's version. I'm not sure what the guy at Mountain Creek was told, but usually the type of drive is irrelevant.

King Pine is now on Remontees-Mecaniques and you can find it here: http://tinyurl.com/hsawep7

Next up is Bucksaw (WSO Stadeli 1969-2015). Any interesting info? Many thanks in advance.

The Sugarloaf reports continue with Bucksaw, Sawduster, Skyline, and Snubber which can be found here: http://www.remontees...tation-956.html
Next is West Mountain. Does anyone know why it has double double towers? It seems unlikely that Sugarloaf ever thought they would be the second chairlift, since it is certainly the least used chairlift on the mountain (less so in my experience than Bucksaw, despite what Sugarloaf said). My hypothesis is that Borvig had a surplus of double double towers at the beginning of the quad age and gave Sugarloaf a deal if they used the towers. Any other ideas?

This will be my last update. West Mountain is now online and I am working on the SuperQuad. Is that lift (Garaventa CTEC 1994) very closely related to Whiffletree (Garaventa CTEC 1997), being Stealth 2 or Stealth 1 and nearly 100% CTEC technology? Here are a few photos:

After this, I will be working on Timberline (Borvig 1988, relocated 1997) so any interesting facts about that lift would also be appreciated.

Thank you very much in advance for any help!

I do recall reading somewhere that West was supposed to be a double double (maybe part of a bigger expansion but was partially canceled?) but the second part wasn't built.

The only part that is actuality Garaventa on that lift are the grips everything else is CTEC. The model I think is a Stealth 1.0, this design was the first modularized terminal design GaraventaCTEC built to expedite onsite installation, here are some pics of a stealth 3 install from the main Skilifts.com sitehttp://www.skilifts.org/old/chairlift_install_ruby.htm to show what I mean by modular designed terminal.

It is a stealth 2.0 not 1.0

also isn't it the longest lift on the mountain and a fixed lift couldn't that make it less used

The other quad you may be thinking about on the east cast could either be the old North Peak Express at Ascutney (now the Rocket at Crotched) or the Zephyr at Bretton Woods. I could upload some images, but I'm not on my home computer so I can't right now. However, they might not be, as both were installed in the late '90s.

*EDIT : Nevermind this post ; after doing some research I can conclude that it's not a 1.0  *
Here are a couple of images anyway...

Zephyr Attachement SAM_1611.JPG Attachement SAM_1613.JPG Attachement Zephyr 2013 Bottom 3.png

Its a 2.0 like the Carpenter at Deer Valley

Was...

The Borvig drive terminal was replaced this summer with a new Doppelmayr terminal. All the rest (line gear, chairs, and return terminal) are all still Borvig.

Couldn't they have just repaired the drive because Borvig lifts have the most beautiful bullwheels of them all. Also does anyone notice the extension on the drive bullwheel, it doesn't appear to be on any lift except for Timberline

There is plenty of good information in these forums as to why the new Doppelmayr terminal was put on last summer. Please read older topics about Sugarloaf.
