Hello everyone,
I am beginning to write a new series of reports for Remontees-Mecaniques on Sugarloaf's lifts! I would be more than happy to add some photos to skilifts.org when the new site is up and running, as well

As many of you know far more than me about ski lifts, perhaps you can help me out with some of these reports!

I'm beginning with Skidway. Here's some photos:

What we know so far (from the Sugarloaf Story by John Christie and New England Ski History)

(Re) Installed: 1988
Manufacturer: Borvig
Likely formerly Timberwind double, installed 1981 (confirmation of this would be nice)
Replaced old #1 T-Bar / reasonably close to site of original rope tow

That is it so far. Anyone have anything else to add? Any fun facts, technical specs, or anything else would greatly be appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

I'm not sure where this site got there information, but some of it is incorrect.
1) King Pine Quad- Borvig was never a Division of "Leitner of Europe". Borvig purchased some grips, sheave assemblies and gearboxes from Leitner as spare parts and integrated them into their own designed chair and surface lifts.
2) Bateau- The Constam lift was engineered and "designed" by Borvig not Leitner.
FYI

You're definitely right, although it is still a great link (thanks for sharing K2Trav). They even got some of the simple stuff wrong like they said Skidway has 44 chairs where it actually has 46. Note: I have no idea where they got this Bateau being "designed" by anyone other than Constam, but it does have Leitner t's.

that is up for discussion conrad, as I am a youtube follower. The sugarloaf lifts site shows the carriers are doppelmayr spring boxes. I have noticed they say leitner. One other q, why does the top terminal of timberline have the borvig hanging sheaves unlike the rest of the lift? did it all actually come from whiffletree?

On the t-bar t's, seeing the Leitner logo on them was my reference as well, which I think trumps anything the website says. Your second question is a good one which is beyond me!

Partek didn't go out of business: they were acquired by Doppelmayr. Instead of dissolving the company, they keep running it as a subsidiary. I think you meant to post that in the New Lifts 2015 thread, though...

I created the lift section of this site prob 10-15 years ago, yeah im sure there are a couple typos but Skidway did have 44 chairs at one time and was designed for 49. i have the specs for King Pine t-bar , manufactured by constam, designed by Leitner. Grips constam, carrier Dopplemayr, sheaves Leitner, bullwheel constam. Bataeu and king pine were basically the same lift

Ah, I see. I'm guessing they probably borrowed a couple of chairs from Double Runner West, as it seems that that chair used to have 190 chairs, yet this past season it only had 150.

Next up is the Double Runner chairlifts. Any interesting facts? I'll have a few photos up soon.

So far Skidway, Double Runners, and Bateau are online: http://www.remontees...tation-956.html
Next up is Whiffletree (in keeping with chronological order). Does anyone have any interesting facts? Perhaps stuff like what components are CTEC and what components are Garaventa. Or if anyone knows what type of terminals it has or anything else ---stuff like this would be greatly appreciated for the article!

The only part that is actuality Garaventa on that lift are the grips everything else is CTEC. The model I think is a Stealth 1.0, this design was the first modularized terminal design GaraventaCTEC built to expedite onsite installation, here are some pics of a stealth 3 install from the main Skilifts.com sitehttp://www.skilifts.org/old/chairlift_install_ruby.htm to show what I mean by modular designed terminal.

That's the second version of the Stealth design, built from about 1995-2000. The first was built at least in 1993 and maybe in other years, and I only know of three of them (Northside at Deer Valley, Motherlode (former King Con) at Park City, and one more in the east that I can't think of at the moment). Here's a picture of King Con in mid-relocation this summer:

Only other observation is that the Whiffletree lift is a bottom drive, which you can tell on the Stealth 2 models by the underside of the terminal and whether the heavier-duty terminal support is in front or back.

Awesome information! Thank you very much! The SuperQuad was built in 1994. Could that be the 3rd Stealth 1.0?

It's interesting: I would have assumed that it was a top drive, as they have electric wires going up to the top. The wires must be for King Pine.

Here's one more photo I wasn't allowed to include in the original post:

The Whirlwind Express at Windham Mountain Resort was built in 1993 and is a Stealth 1.

Here's that one from Windham:

http://www.teresco.o...16/DSCF0087.jpg

On the Stealth 1 and 2, the drive terminal has the tension tower in the back with the drive bullwheel behind it sticking out of the bottom. The return has the tension tower in front with the bullwheel between the two supports, with the underside of the terminal dropping town to cover the whole bullwheel.

Stealth 3 has the same support setup at both ends, only visual difference is the vents instead of windows on the back of the drive end.

Stealth 1 and 2 have the tires in the terminal facing inside and Stealth 3 has them facing outside.
