Not quite the same but the old cut and blueberry doubles at Grouse Mountain used to have two sheave assemblies on the uphill side of the tower at the mid-station so that the cable could be pulled down early season but then raised once enough snow was there (bypassing the midstation). The high speed quad also has it though it is a slow speed mid-station on its own tower. http://www.skilifts....?showtopic=8788

Lift A uses some towers like that at its mid-unload station, since it appears to have been built without a midstation and only got the midstation when Quicksilver Super6 was built.

Here's one I've never even noticed. Then again it's been 2+ years since I last rode this lift, but look at the beginning of the Jordan Mountain Double at Sunday River:

Here's a funky but cool space saving design(I'm guessing that's the reason given what's below? It's not a mid-load/unload ramp) Moose Creek @ Jackson Hole

Silver Lake at Deer Valley has one of those, too;

This gondola in Pacos de Caldas, Brazil literally travels up a street using this method.

The first tower on the Mount Mansfield Triple at Stowe only has sheaves on the upgoing side.
