Why does tower 4 have the lifting frame on it while no other tower on Wildcat does? Is it purely aesthetic or is there a mechanical reason for it?
Also, did I use proper terminology? If, not, I will fix that.

It looks like it has bolt sides of the wire, then after that it is one side. Looks like compression towers to the right, and a floating line to the left.

EDIT: The "Towerhead" Is called a crossarm or lifting frame. :)

I'm guessing Alta, since I don't know of any other centre-pole YANs. Those are old enough that they didn't originally come with lifting frames, so I'd say this was a later modification. Just my semi-educated guess. It's probably there to aid in maintenance of the sheave assemblies as they look rather heavy (towers without these gantries need to have all sorts of additional rigging, which is a pain in the @$$). To add to woofiedoggie's explanation, the towerhead is everything up top, not counting the tube. The extra item you're referring to is called a lifting frame or gantry. The crossarm is the box-beam that's either welded or bolted to the top of the tube, and does not include the gantry.

Thanks. Supreme has them on all the non CTEC modified towers, Albion and Cecret do not have them at all and Wildcat only had it on that particular tower. I never have understood why and just thought about asking.

The bottom terminal was relocated from the original position. The added tower used a later design crossarm that includes the lifting frame (or gantry).

The original Yan terminal was high in the air with the rope coming down to the height adjustable loading tower.

That is Collins in the background, so that definitely is Wildcat.
