We've had the opening day pushed back here in lake louise until the 13th. Warm air came through the day before opening and pretty much obliterated any snow we had down home run and at the base.

Worryingly, unless we get consistently cold weather and 3 days of snow, it doesn't look like we'll make the revised date either as a full opening, folk will definitely be downloading on the gondola and a very limited opening around the hill.

Finally got cold here in Whistler. Should have a 1 week window to blast out a heap of snow. Probably get enough done to open a week early if things go well.

Getting dumped on here in Minnesota, expecting 10-16+ for the central part of the state by the time the storm is over.
Only two areas open already (since Halloween) but this heavy wet snow I am sure is being welcomed by all of the areas.

I never forget in Utah, in 1976, the warm weather stayed until late December and lack of snow...most ski resorts didn't open until February 1977, with four feet snow, they opened for two months. I remember they don't have making snow machines like that today.

Now there are recently new snow with some 10 inches. The weather is cold (valley average 45, up the mountain average 25) They make snow machines...take time. The ski resorts are not open yet.

I remember that winter 76-77 .... A 2 week ski vacation to Utah and no skiing . we stayed for the duration praying for snow which never came.

I was at Alta last weekend and it looks like they should be able to make the 21st, which is the target date. Snowbird is much more questionable, the only snow on lower Peruvian is about a 6' wide path on Chip's. Upper mountain looked fine though.

We've been lucky.. A day after everything melted last saturday we've been getting consistently 10 below or colder. Had a snow all day monday laying a good base and the trail crews have had the fan guns on non stop since down home run. Just been to dump my skis in the locker and the cats are out in full force. Looks like our week delayed opening day will be a pretty good opening.

When I was up there this morning we had an awesome temp inversion causing a pretty funky deal with the snowmaking. Was -10 at the base and then around -0 at paradise according to the trail crew. All the cannons down low were just launching their payload into a cloud of snow that filled the base area floating about 20ft above the ground. Found a pretty gnarly snapshot of it in the webcam archive. Never seen cannons do that before.

EDIT: From what I've heard round town, we'll be the first area in Canada to open this season

Summit County just got about 10 to 12 inches today. And there's more in their forecasts through at least Saturday.

Just looked at Indianhead, MI's Facebook page. 42" of show this week alone. Legit!

Just heard there's a 50/50 chance Southcentral AK doesn't get any snow until January. Too warm for Alyeska to make snow, and not a whole lot at the top either. We've got just a dusting on the mountain, and no snowmaking. :(

Yer tellin me. We went from dirtmobiling to full-on over-the-snow riding in one day. More on the way. Unfortunately, this is the *first* real storm we've had, so there's no base under all this fresh.

Brighton Ski Resort will open on Tuesday November 18...only two lifts: Majestic and Explorer. Crest Express will open later, not know when.

Vail's moving pretty fast to open terrain with the new snowfall that's come in the past few weeks. On Friday, they opened with the Mountaintop Express, Avanti Express and Wildwood Express lifts and their trails. Since then they've also opened up Game Creek Bowl, as well as the Northwoods Express pod and the Highline Express lift.

That's about 1,300 acres right there, which is much more than any of the individual Summit County ski areas has open (though I think upper Peak 9 will open later this week). In other words, almost the entirety of the Front Side is open (no word yet on the Sourdough Express lift).

Vail has the advantage of being a fairly grassy and not overly rockey mountain so it doesn't take as much base to open much of their terrain.

I know it's been a while since the start of this topic, but actually i've been too Sunday River and Killington already, and I'm willing to bet Mcintyre (Local ski hill) will open by next week or so.
Meanwhile, I need to scrape my car off. I had more pics but it's kinda dark out at 4:30 (I know it's 5:45 now but I took it at 4:30-ish)
In southern NH, when there is snow before December, you kinda need to double take...
