Both Copper and Keystone have postponed our respective opening dates due to unseasonably warm temps and poor snowmaking conditions. Loveland, too, has yet to announce an opening. We've been making snow for 36 hours straight, but even if we keep that pace up it won't be enough. Let's hope it cools down soon.

I think we all can agree that we need the El Elsa weather pattern instead of El Nino or La Nina.

No kidding, so far this fall is looking just like 2011 with one exception, it is even warmer. I'm tired of it and ready for snow. Has A-Basin been able to maintain their run? Has anyone been there and tried it out? Hopefully cold and snow soon.

Please, someone find a way to summon an ice-conjuring snow queen to fix this problem.

Come East to Maine. Sounds like we could get a good plastering of Snow Saturday!

The warm weather is just right fine by me here in Michigan....still awaiting delivery of a conveyor that I am patiently waiting to install.  It can get cold on the 28th.

I don't see why opening the first weekend of November is such a priority. Up until the 1990's the weekend before thanksgiving or thanksgiving itself was early enough. A basin, Loveland and occasionally Wolf Creek where the only exceptions and they would open as soon as they could for publicity. Vail tried an earlier opening once and never did it again, because it doesn't make financial sense.

I remember working a Copper opening weekend with only Ptarmigan run and Excelerator lift open and public uploading and downloading on Eagle, it was a total sh*$ show, I am glad it hasn't been tried again.

I can see Regulator from my house and there is about a 10x20 patch and that's it. I'm doubting we can make the Nov. 21 target date. It was still warm today...

52 degrees leaving Loveland today. The one ribbon they had open was not bad though. Good chance to break in new ski boots and snowboard boots. Guns are set up on Spillway and Richards Run, I'll see what they can do this week and maybe check out Copper next weekend. The only positive about the unseasonable warm crappy weather is no lines and being able to zip right up and down I-70 from Denver without any delays which I think will become a nightmare come January due to all the construction. Overall, good to be back out, my Daughter, Longfeet, and I will be back next weekend for more hoping to use the goggles soon.

We're struggling up here at lake louise. Theres a blanket building up high and in the back bowls, but down at the base the trail guys are making snow by night, only for it to be melted again during the day. We could do with a really big dump overnight next week to get things going down low.

Looks like there will be guests downloading on the gondola if we hit the opening day next week.

It's worth mentioning that Snowbird is planning to open the Peruvian side of the mountain (Chip's Run) first this year, before Gadzoom. I heard this from Dave Fields (VP of the resort), so I trust it more than I would a typical rumor. With the snowmaking improvements they made a few years back allowing snowmaking in both Peruvian Gulch and Gad Valley at once, I can't imagine that Gadzoom will be far behind Chip's, but the plan is definitely Peruvian first.

Doesn't surprise me. The bottom of gad valley is a disaster until december.

Breckenridge is bumping back their opening day at least until next week. The weather forecasts suggest that for now, it gets cold enough to make snow at night but those night efforts get defeated by 40 degree daytime temperatures.

They face east as well, so they get direct sunlight on their runs more than, say, we do.

They're trying hard with the snowmaking on Springmeier, from what the cameras suggest.
