OFFICIAL COMMENT – OCTOBER 30TH
Our team has been working tirelessly since the fire that affected the base of the TGV lift on October 12th. Although the situation is changing day by day, we are taking this opportunity to share with you the latest news.
Following the incident, we swiftly took concrete steps in making the lift fully operational as quickly as possible. The team began by developing a reconstruction plan with the manufacturer and its experts. This plan being completed, the next step, which we are currently dedicated to, is attaching said plan to a timeframe. The timing will depend on the delivery of parts and the coordination of different projects. Based on our actual progress, we are considering Friday December 19th as the date the TGV will resume operations. Please keep in mind that given the nature of the work and the contingencies associated with such a project, not overlooking the temperature, this date could change. We will keep you informed of the evolution of our operations.
Moreover, we confirm that the snow making capacity has not been affected by this incident. The size of the skiable terrain early in the season – from the opening of the resort to the reopening of the TGV lift – should be equivalent to previous seasons during this period. To provide such a ski area the snow making plan will be adapted, making the Duncan Express lift operational right from the opening of the season. In other words, you should have access to the same size of ??skiable terrain, but it will be structured differently. Of course, it depends somewhat on Mother Nature; to which we look forward to help us deliver on our snowmaking plans.
Again we thank you for your understanding. Until our next communication, let us wish for the return of cold temperatures and snowflakes in the Tremblant sky!

So pretty much only the bottom terminal and a few chairs have to be repaired. That's cheaper than that other HSQ that has to be fully rebuilt.

TGV quad at Mont Tremblant destroyed by fire: http://www.montrealg...tml?id=10291414
TGV is a 1993 Poma detachable quad.
This is the 3rd major lift fire this year...also happened at Sun Valley in February and Marble Mountain in August.

This is the 3rd major lift fire this year...also happened at Sun Valley in February and Marble Mountain in August.
Somebody (or a few somebodies) had their heads on straight. Some of the parts from Governor's Express, the Marble Mountain Quad in NFLD (torched in August 2014) , which is a 1995 Poma detachable quad will be used to fix TGV at Tremblant, a 1993 Poma detachable quad.
Marble Mountain in NFLD, is getting a whole new chairlift, both upper and lower terminals and all equipment replaced, including new chairs and haul rope. So Marble had a "spare" lower terminal (the 1995 terminal ) that was mostly undamaged (visually anyway) and parts could be reused elsewhere. It will be interesting to learn what Poma could salvage for use at Tremblant, since part of the reason for Marble getting a whole new lift was that lightening and fire did some damage to the old one.
(after I wrote this, I realized that ski lift terminals have a lot of mechnical parts, not just the electrical ones, so yes I understand that there was huge opportunity to make a better situation out of two really bad ones. Nice to see engineers thinking outside the box. wow. Way to go LP. (source Tremblant's Blog page Comment section)

Yes the haul rope was damaged in the fire. The entire haul rope was replaced with a new one as part of the rebuild.
The haul rope was damaged (it parted in the terminal from the fire) but a replacement rope was not available. The repair was to splice in a piece of used rope, which required 2 splices, for this season and the entire haul rope will be replaced next summer as part of a major overhaul of the lift.

Interesting. Very impressive they were able to get it back online in such short time.
Lift Dino, you mentioned a major overhaul after this season. Any details on what that would be? Were the repairs done (aside from haul rope) not considered long term fixes or are they just temporary for this season?
If it's just temporary fix then is a new replacement lift the long term solution?
Thanks for the info.

Major overhaul will include new haul rope, Electrical Drive Control upgrade, all new windows (some of the current ones were brought from Marble), wood siding and underskin and repaint of charred components.
There is no new replacement lift planned to my knowledge.
