Look familiar, Allan? S-lift, 1983. Note the Doppelmayr tension system on the back wall.

The business end of the tension retrofit. You can see the sprocket from the old roller chain system hidden under the back crossbeam (slightly in shadow).

Nice pitures John, I just love these tehcnical pictures.

Anyway, guess what I found in a CTEC lift ad today in SAM? A CTEC, high-speed quad with not CTEC chairs but Doppelmayr quad chairs. I wonder why they did this? CTEC's HSQ chair design was already out by the way. Maybe the resort wanted the Doppelmayr chairs rather than CTEC's. B)

Yeah, the crew who had that lift this past summer had some extra time and got bored... I was lucky to have enough time to clean the floor. :( I finished summer maintenance the day before the lift opened for the winter.

Top terminal of the Flyer. Quite a bit smaller than Poma's newer lifts...

Doppelmayr shots- apparently they like bright colours. This is their spacing clutch- one of two.

The drive assembly- gearbox, mainshaft, and electric motor. The hydraulic brake assembly is on the right. In the foreground is the gearbox cooler, which is basically an automobile radiator with electric fans attached.

The DS-104 grip. Doppelmayr's assembly numbers are very sensible when you think about it- D(Doppelmayr) S(spring) 104 (quad). The grips on Crystal's lifts, for example, are DT (torsion bar)-104's or -106s, depending upon the lift.

Nope, the driveshafts are powered off the bullwheel. I think I posted that picture elsewhere, but here it is again:

One last Doppelmayr shot. I like how consistent they've been over the years with their carrier design- this is on a '94, and it's the same as it was in the early '80s and today.

What do you mean by different design? Carrier design? I've noticed that Canadian resorts have a different carrier design that what the United States at the same time period. Kind of weird I think. Maybe there were different assembly plants?
