Mount Snow, VT has begun work on the new bubble chairlift and they're well on their way to having the Summit Local/Lift 17 dismantled for the new bubble 6-Pack:

The lift was installed in 1978: http://www.skilifts....snow/sl/sl.html

Twenty one years old, welding in the parking lot with Tom Nored and George Kruger building this lift. :shocking:
Thought it looked familiar!
There were still two of the banana plantation chain drive lifts still in operation along with the infamous sky tram from the hotel.

Angelo wasn't there in Vermont. He was taking care of (raising) his grandson at the time in CA. Set my first tower with Angelo under a helicopter.....had to wake him up from a nap on the hill when the 214 was coming. I was 19-20 then, Angelo was already in his sixties and could out dig, out climb, out work ANYBODY on the crew......even Philipe! Remember Philipe won the Subaru Pro Tour at 42 years old!

Pokie was in Vermont that year with me. We drove straight through in an L/E truck from Carson City towing a welder. Got to see Slumpberger's (Father) cabin made out of 24" tower tubes. Wood stoves built into the tower tubes to heat the house.
Les Dudak (?) was our engineer at Mt. Snow. Had to tackle Les once on a hot LZ before he walked into a Carson Sikorsky 58 tail rotor! (and "Blacky" was the pilot!)
Nuts! :wacko2:

Wow sure looks nice. Only complaint about that would be that without a gap between the seat and backrest, you'd have to hold your poles the whole way up.

Looks Nice, Question. What is the wind like along the lift line? How does it normally blow?

Vertical bullwheels! Not something you see every day. These are photos of the new "Le Transit" lift at Le Massif. The unique configuration appears to be due to a very steep profile right out of the bottom terminal.
