Hello, from the lift installation surveys on the site, it would seem like most Detachable Quads were first installed in 1985 and onward, with the only exception of the Breck Quicksilver in 1981.

Would we be able to make a quick list of perhaps the 10 oldest quad detachables in North America that are still operating? Perhaps there aren't even 10 left...

Thank you.

Chair 7 (Vail)- 1985
Pioneer (Winter Park)- 1986
Liberator (Mission Ridge, originally Winter Park)- 1985
Hunter Mt still has an ‘86, I think
Coney Glade (Snowmass)- 1986
Big Burn (Snowmass)- 1987
Rainier Express (Crystal)- 1988
Angel Express (Sunshine Village)- 1988
The third of the three Pomas from ‘88 is in Vermont or NH and still operates.
There are probably a few more in this time frame but these are the ones that came to mind.

After this construction started to pick up, and from ‘89-‘90 several were built every year, sometimes several in one area.

Owl's Head in Quebec has an 86 Doppelmayr as well as the original 1981 HSQ relocated from Quicksilver at Breck. Arrow Bahn at Beaver Creek is an 88, as well as Born Free and Orient at Vail. 7th Heaven on Blackcomb is 1987.

Silver at Nakiska, Alberta is from 1986
Olympic at Nakiska, Alberta is from 1987

The Angel Express at Sunshine is still in great shape - rode it yesterday. It doesn't appear any worse for wear than the Goat's Eye or Great Divide chairs at Sunshine

Eagle at Solitude is an 89, not quite as old, but it's a VonRoll CTEC hybrid, one of a kind.

J6, a Yan at June Mountain was built in 1986. Although it was modified by Dopplmayr in 1996, it still has some original parts.

Wasn't J6 the original Yan HSQ?

I believe so. It has a few different components from the later ones.

Blue Bullet 1 is a 1984 detachable Dopp quad still operating at Mt Buller in Victoria, Australia.

Blue Bullet 2 was further up the hill, but was closed in 2007 so its parts could be used to keep BB1 running. BB2 was replaced by a Dopp detachable six pack.
