IM BACK/ new ho scale mono cable gondola!

ski_Lift_modeler's Photo ski_Lift_modeler 11 Sep 2005

Well im back as the title says.

i have plans for a detachable bi cable gondola.

just 2 question before i build

should it be to the size of a lego person?

or to HO scale?

and also,

modeled to look new, or to look like soemthing from the 70-80's

pros/cons.

ho would make the lift distance much longer.
lego size would enable for more detail.

both will have auto detach/auto door. (harder on the HO for obvious reasons.)

well im excited about being back

thanks

ok, tomorrow i will have the gondola plans up, it will basically be the challenger type poma terminal, with a modified poma grip. cabins will be build sort of going for the classic 8 cwa design like at Killington or the canyons or steamboat

it will have 2 segments. base-mid-summit

i will post all of the plans for it tomorrow, this will be complete with everything that you would expect to see a gondola run with.. (ie. cabin storage park, rails to there that switch, for summer operation mountain bike racks.

automatic door.

all the works, to give you an idea of the size of these cabins, the cabin from side to side (width) is 1 inch i hope that give you an idea of the amount of work that will go into having all those features on a fully automatic gondola that small! ---

i also plan to make MANY more lifts i.e. a few fixed grips. some detach quads and many diff types of gondolas i.e. non automatic von roll cabs. and others with latice towers and stuff. --- im excited.

sorry, taking longer than said but it'll be worth it, im drawing up and scaling all of the plans!..

a basic idea is that this includes a few for a HSQ,

but gondolas are where my love is..

Orange gondola would love this, the old K cabins! haha im going to make soemthing similar minus the stations to the old K carlevaro savio lift.

Another oldie ( prolly the first to be finished and put up in this thread)
a Von Roll 4 passenger detach gondola. it has to be pushed through the station though ( --- realistic). it wont have an automatic door, rather just one on a hinge.

and since i love old gondi's ill inclide one like the old gondi (same cabin idea) from lake louise..more info later.

some newer/80's ones..(all poma challenger style terminals)

a few gondis using cabins similar to the omega III by CWA..all automatic. way mroe specs and detail later.

one with cabins like the gondi at stratton.. once again poma.

have any questions/comments about any of the styles? I'd be happy to answer. also feel free to IM me on AIM.. slash 81291.

thanks.

hha sorry for all the changes, but i HAVE decided that i will make only 2 gondolas that are modern. cwa omega's on tb 41's with challenger terminals. and the sam eexept diff cains (i.e. stratton)

but expect more old ones. i like the charm and i think they appeal more than th streamlined new ones. the old ones had amazing character and were all very individual IMO

Mike.

expect plans for the first gondola (carevaro savio type towers and my own grips with some old not curvey cwa design cabins.) tonight including grip design/scale/cabin design/tower design/terminal designs

thanks.
