Is this for US workers or Canadian? The exchange rate may skew the poll.

Or maybe this is all pure gibberish—a product of the demented imagination of a lazy drunken hillbilly with a heart full of hate who has found a way to live out where the real winds blow—to sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whisky, and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested . . . Res ipsa loquitur (it speaks for it self). Let the good times roll." HT

Good question - our base rate is $14 something and tops out at just under $24. We're union too so that may skew our numbers further.

In the state of California if your job title is mechanic and you are required to carry your own tools, you must be paid at least double the states minimum wage which is currently $8.00.

Full journeyman rate is $30.89 CDN. no union. Keep in mind exchange rate conversions can give misleading impressions due to different costs of living and tax rates/rules.

P.S. Don't forget to get info on renting/owning a home, Cost of living, etc. You often find higher wages mean you can't afford to live near where you work and have to commute.

Aussierob that's pretty good pay around 24-25 USD. How tough is it for americans to get a job in Canada?

You never get what you are worth, only what you negotiate. Maybe a job offer from another mountain (more money) might get you a wage increase at your current job. But be ready to accept the offer and move on in case it "backfires".

Or you can't afford to rent/own where you commute from either. Sometimes a lower hourly wage on paper doesn't look so bad when you throw in cost of living out west.
