Pull down anchors for pulling the haul rope down out of the sheave assembly for servicing.

Neat ... that's gotta be some chunk of concrete to anchor that, but makes sense to put it in at the start.

How do you keep the metal anchors from rusting when they're buried in snow?

Paint them. :biggrin: Though sometimes LM departments put a upside down buckets or coffee cans over them to make them a little easier to find in the middle of winter.

Interesting ... you don't think about these things when you're several feet above them on a carpet of snow ...

That means we are doing our job. Better to have stuff out of sight so our guests can enjoy the "mountain experience".
