OK, funny question here. When I go skiing with my boys, tower 5 is my youngest son's tower as he is five. Same for tower 9 for the older one. They however keep asking me if there is any tower 47 on any lift. So, does anyone know of a chair or gondi with at least 47 towers?

Thanks,

TME

As far as I can tell from a quick count on Google Earth, the Silver Mountain Gondola (the longest single stage gondola in North America), has 50 towers.

I don't think it was quite that many, I remember 40 when I rode it a couple of years ago.

Sandia Peak Lift 3 Riblet double has 42 .

Sunshine express at Telluride has 38, but thats the most I've seen in the US. Matterhorn Express (All sections) has at least 45 towers, but I unfortunately don't have a solid number. It might be 47, not sure though.

If you count both sections of the Whistler Village Gondola, there are 63 towers, but they start over the numbering for section 2.

Thanks SD, that works for me. I did not check it as I thought there were fewer (kind of stupid as I used to ski WB all the time). I assume though it has two sets of numberings as it is two cables and more or less is two gondolas that transfer cabins between them (I believe each section can be operated independently) as opposed to one very big gondola.

But thanks, I will go with that (and who knows maybe the new Blackcomb Gondi will have more than 48 by then)
