Here are some photos of Lutsen's Caribou Express L-P HSS. Line work and the terminals look complete; when we were there, they were assembling the chairs. EDIT: Not sure why these ended up loading upside down/sideways. Will try to fix.

I run into the upside down photos when uploading pictures that I've taken with my iPhone. It's something to do with how you orient your phone when taking pictures. And if you're using iPhoto it gets even more confusing because it will auto rotate the pictures for you, but when you go and find the file on your harddisk - it's the original un-rotated one!

That thing does blend in pretty neatly with the Mountain Chief lift.

Well I guess the upper union meadows gate will get a lot more use since the new lift cuts off the traverse to the lower gate.

At least I'm certain of one thing: for my above treeline fix at Breckenridge this year, I won't need to use the T-Bar ever again, now that I can utilize the Kensho SuperChair for this goal. I'm also trying to contemplate ways to do all my favorite Peak 10, Peak 9, Peak 8 and Peak 7 runs in addition to Bliss, Euphoria, Deja Vu, Daydream, or Nirvana. Does anyone have any photo updates on the Kensho SuperChair or the Zendo lift? I know they flew in the Kensho SuperChair's towers two weeks ago, and in the most recent photos, I've seen progress on the shacks at the top of that lift.

Vail has released this photo showing the interior workings of the Mountaintop Express lift. This appears to a picture showing the bottom terminal's interior. Attached File  Mountaintop Express terminal interior.jpg (467.05K)
Number of downloads: 86 As they have said that the lift will have gates on the loading area, I am expecting them to look like the ones Breckenridge utilizes on the six packs and the Peak 8 SuperConnect. But we'll just have to wait and see.

Did anyone else notice the unusual swerve the grips take in Vail's new terminal?

Saw that. Easier for the six-packs to round the horn?

As of today we know the Mountaintop Express does have chairs. The Mid-Vail webcam's been down for about a day, but there are chairs on the lift. So far they are all on the downhill side of the lift. They should be completing installation of the chairs tomorrow and doing the load test on Saturday.

I inquired on Vail's Facebook page, and found that the Mountaintop Express lift has 92 chairs. The original quad had 113 chairs, but there are obvious reasons why fewer chairs on the six pack, as would be indicated through analysis of similar high-speed-quad to high-speed-six-pack upgrades (for example, the Summit Express at Winter Park had 145 chairs, while the Super Gauge Express that replaced it has 104 chairs; or the fact that the Mercury SuperChair and Independence SuperChair have similar lengths; the former is a quad with 154 chairs and the latter is a six pack with 119 chairs).
