I ski Whiteface in Upstate NY most often, and on their master plan is a lift from the beginner area, Kids Kampus, to the mid mountain lodge. I looked where it would go on Google Earth, and it would require it going up and over this very steep ridge which would likely require a lot of blasting to install and would also be highly exposed to wind.

One possible way to avoid this would be a line turn. For a fixed grip lift, how sharp of a turn can be made using only angled sheaves?

Not much. Breckenridge's chair 5 has around a five-degree bend, but it's a Riblet so the internal clip doesn't affect the bending as much. Perhaps less for an external grip.
