I was driving along highway 26 in Ontario , Canada this morning (6:30am in the morning ) , eastbound betwwen Collingwood and Barrie and ahead of me was a truck with a wide load. The load on the truck was the complete Motor Unit from a chairlift. Looked like about the size of motor unit from a double or a triple chair. I notice too that Resortboneyard.com lists a couple of the old Talisman ski lifts as being sold. Was the motor unit i saw , off the 1987 Poma Triple from Talisman? . If so where was it headed? Somewhere in eastern Ontario or further? Curious to know in general where the Talisman chairlifts are going ? 1991 BM Quad, 1987 Poma Triple 1987 BM Leitner Quad, all from Talisman, all listed on Resortboneyard for a couple years, now all listed as sold.

Too bad to see Talisman closed and shut up. but if the land is going to other purposes, glad the see the garbage finally taken awya. Sitting rusting, unused on a nice Beaver valley hillside in Ontario was just polluting the landscape. it is good to see the "junk" off the land and back to being useful machinery again.

Does anyone know where these lifts are headed?

Think I answered my own question by looking at Liftblog.com. The motor unit I saw might have been the BM Quad from Talisman, which looks like it is headed to Sunridge Alberta.

Yes, we bought it and are in the process of fully refurbishing and installing it.

Kind of cool to see that the motor unit had a 35 hour, 3400 km journey ahead of it that day. Glad to see a piece of steel sitting unused on a Beaver Valley hillside in Ontario is being reborn on a skihill in Edmonton Alberta. Enjoy.

It is now a fully refurbished quad chairlift with 52 chairs on the line and a nice new drive from SAF Drives Inc.

Thanks Sunridge for posting the photo.

I work and ski in Ontario, at a Collingwood ski hill. I had a delightful encounter on my local hill this past Saturday, with a group of very enthusiastic young skiers from Alberta. The kids came to in Collingwood Ontario for four days of ski training prior to a Southern Ontario Division race this coming week. Except for the "Alberta Ski team " logo on the jackets, the kids passed for any other energetic young local ski racer, primed and pumped to run the ski gates. It was fun talking to them on the hill and in the lift line. Here's to skiing the, great unifying sport that it is.

Skiing really is a unifying sport, bringing together provincially , nationally and across the world, to enjoy a sport they love, free of politics and age / gender divisions.
