Anyone have any ideas for a lego detachable grip for chairs, gondolas, 3Ss ect ect?

Here are some ideas I had for a 3S grip:







You can see how the black pegs simply squeeze the haul rope (in this case, 4 mm OD pneumatic tubing).

Does pneumatic tubing really work for a haul rope?

I know there are some legos that have hinges, so if you did it on a large enough scale and found a way to do it (maybe with springs?) then it might work.
