New Copper Mountain lift pictures

DonaldMReif's Photo DonaldMReif 16 Mar 2013

I was at Copper Mountain last Thursday.

Got many photos of the chairlifts, including several hundred of American Flyer, the American Eagle, and the Timberline Express.

Also got some photos of lifts I'd never been on before, like Rendezvous and the new Union Creek lift.

Here are a few of Union Creek:

Two copper comm lines and one fiber. I wonder what the plans are for the fiber line?

What's up with those weird looking restraint bars?

Those are the new Doppelmayr design. I think another thread had photos of another lift with this design.

It's Doppelmayr's "kid safe" foot rest, the bars go between your knees, Copper was one of the first to get them.

Fiber is for IT. I don't know what their plans are since it currently dead-ends at the top of the lift and goes nowhere else on the hill.

Donald-- shoot me a PM next time you plan on coming up. If it's between Sunday and Wednesday I'll give you a tour.

I am on the Epic Pass. This was a one-time trip to Copper on passes from one of my dad's office friends.

Maybe someone can look at the Mountaineer at Deer Valley, and tell me if that has a fiber line.

I also recorded a ride on the lift, too;

Mountaineer at Deer Valley most likely has fiber as it is utilized for PLC communications between stations. I don't see why they would need a separate fiber line from the bottom of that lift.

Doppelmayr, one comm line - that has to be copper.

Is the platter going to be Doppelmayr like the T-Bar?

I don't know what type of Platter Copper is getting. The Excelerator web cam has been pointed toward Storm King now.

Both lifts will be Doppelmayrs. Dino, it was a classic Storm King day-- snowing sideways at 40+.

I guess since Union Creek was a Doppelmayr, that would make sense. And Doppelmayr has built more T-bars in Colorado than Poma has, I think (the only Poma built T-bar in Colorado I'm aware of is North Face at Crested Butte).

To Storm King; I say goodbye. I will miss that lift the next time I'm at Copper. Mostly because it was the first major surface lift I ever rode, way back on 3/4/02 before I was even eight years old. It also now leaves only one detachable poma in Colorado that runs on a regular basis, I think.
