Towers are up on Vail's new gondi. Looks like they went back to the older assembly style instead of the rubber-bushed ones on Omega lifts.

What are the advantages of having the assemblies mounted to the outside of the crossarm? Looks like Poma and Doppelmayr are both doing this now

looking on the mid vail live cam the top terminal of the gondola is going in today, in the middle of a snow storm

The sheave assemblies were actually supplied by Leitner out of Italy. Because of the size of the installation it required these 550mm sheave trains which are not in the standard LPOA arsenal.

Strong work by the crew at vail today from the web cam it looks like much progress was made in spite of the blizzard.

Vons- Are you seeing a different web cam than me? All I can see it the uphill edge of the terminal at about 1:06 of a 1:07 pan.

The terminal is viewable at the extreme end of the pan, you can see the contour and parts of the sides, not much of it I'll admit. At various times durning the day you could see trucks bring up the sections too.

550 sheave trains? Glad I don't have to change any of those.

Looks like standard LPOA to me. Main axle inside the crossarm and V-shaped braces in the gantry. Why change what works?

This year's are definitely a little different. They look more like the French Poma ones to me.

I wonder if the new towers blend in aesthetically to match the towers on the existing Doppelmayr high speed quads.
