I've never quite understood why at Vail the Sourdough Express is operated at 1,000 fpm considering the short distance of the lift and the terrain serviced (most of the trails lapped are beginner runs, even though most people who use the lift are transitioning to Two Elk Lodge and the China Bowl). I'd think Vail would operate the lift at 900 fpm without lengthening the ride time too much. The three minute ride feels like overkill at times, considering that the lift has the shorter terminals that cause rougher accel/decel.
