Yup - still have the SLK. Don't get excited though - the Benz is a '98 and the Porsche is an '06. Both low-mileage finds.

Here is a car I picked up a couple of years ago. Great gas mileage, about a gallon per ¼ mile. :)

That is my car. I get to drive it, work on it, and unfortunately pay the bills on it. I pretty much have stuck to racing in Salt Lake lately , but on an occasion made the trip down to Las Vegas for a few races. To expensive to travel much further with it.

You should talk to 2milehi on this site, He also is into that sort of thing. He has something to do with a rail as well.

Top Dragster here locally. Have a throttle stop for Super Comp/Quick Rod on an occasion, and lots of bracket racing.

It is a '70 Duster stripped down to just the bare essentials and a bracket racer. Best time is a 10.79 at 126 MPH. CH3skier is probably doing quicker ETs.

The instantaneous torque possible with electric drive lends itself to drag racing. While I prefer ovals or road courses (ya' gotta' turn it), it would be fun to build a dragster with a 1300 ft extension cord. There would be no way to top it. Maybe a decent battery will come along sometime

Maybe - they'd be pretty big ones though... not much more convenient than heavy batteries. Weight-wise, it's hard to beat a gallon of gasoline. Even a direct nuclear conversion would involve a lot of lead.

Tesla's dream was widespread electric energy transmission without wires - broadcast, so to speak. Imagine: a dragster with nothing but a DC motor and an antenna.

So I guess you run at Bandimere Raceways there in Morrison? Great track for watching, but a very tough place to run with how quick the weather and the corrected altitude can change.

Does anyone own a Kia Sorento? I'm looking at one for my wifes daily driver for the AWD, kick butt MPG with the I4 (actually peppy for a four cylinder) and seven passenger seating. It was nice on the test drive but wondered if anyone had thoughts on them.

I rented one once in Bend, OR. I thought it was a "Plastic POS with a 4 cylinder engine". If she doesn't mind the engine going to 5000 rpms every time she hits the gas, go for the MPG.

My bad, Andoman. The Kia I rented was the Sportage, but it has the same 2.4L 14 engine. High reving and noisy was my first impression. Also, the interior was "basis".

No worries, the one I tested had the GDI 2.4. The had the regular 2.4 and the GDI, the GDI got closer to 32 mpg. The interior didn't seem any louder than our minivan, but the minivan is a piece of junk. I was just curious since you can't get an honest answer from someone from Michigan about a foreign car.

Pickup truck country? Part of the only reason i initially looked at the Kia is because they walked into my daughters elementary school and asked how many computers were in the building, the next week a semi truck showed up with new desktops for the entire building all for free. Made me take a look at them when it was time to look for a new car, but I was actually quite impressed. People around Michigan could care less is they were manufactured in Georgia so opinions are rough to say the least.
