The lift was a M-D and did have a floating bull wheel. Good to hear the new guys are finding a market.
Skytrac projects known
2 new quads
1 new quad drive with old line & return
1 new triple
1 New ? drive
5 total projects is respectable for any company

It certainly is, especially a company this new. I hope other companies follow SkyTrac's great lead.

A few updates on the new lift front:

Toggenburg, NY is adding a used Hall double that is the former Snowpine double from Holiday Valley.

Mammoth's new high speed quad has been named High Five Express

On the new Eagle Point (formerly Elk Meadows) map, it show a new surface lift planned for 2011-2012 called Riverhead. It would serve the lower parts of many of the expert runs and basically haul you back to the chairlift. Not sure if they acually installed it or not. Looks like it would be a nice improvement if they did.

Interesting piece of info: apparently the new Bluebird Express at Mt. Snow will have 90-degree unloading. Good luck with that....

It can be done. Snowbird has it on two lifts, Baldy and Peruvian, and it seems to work fine. A little bit of overkill on Baldy but there's zero room up by Peruvian to do it any other way

Yeah, and same situation at Timberline on Palmer as well...if 90 degree loading is so commonplace, why should unloading be any different? It's no more difficult on a HSQ to disembark than to embark.

I've actually been on palmer and completely forgot that it has 90 degree unloading. It does seem to work fine.

I believe White Pine is "toast". No funds to operate this winter. It's demise also crashes the Wyoming High School skiing program. Loss of the Pinedale team will reduce the number of teams to one less than is required to keep the program active.

The solution for White Pine is simple.

--Off Topic--

The ski area has already crossed the hurdle of becoming a 501©3. I would now recommend selling shares of ownership to local organizations and corporations (yes, oil money) rather than asking the county for money. Next, I would reduce the operation schedule to weekends only and run from December - March. However, the largest upfront expense to White Pine is probably not labor, but rather insurance since coverage is for a full year. It may be able to locate an insurance organization specializing in non-profit operations, like http://www.amerspec.com/. The next big hurdle is to have another source of income for the ski area if it's not sustainable. Donations/sponsorships to the ski area by local businesses may be tax deductible, which hopefully will allow the ski area to get by.

White Pine looks like a fun ski area and it has really nice facilities to be abandoned. Hopefully the right leadership will come along to at least make the ski area sustainable.

PS. One of the largest things possibly plaguing White Pine may be the local oil companies. The town has a population of around 1,500, with seven large hotel chains such as Baymont, Hampton Inn and Best Western, but there is never any vacancy because the oil companies lodge all their employees in these places. Brad (CoSkiBumI) and I ran into this dilemma two months ago.

I have run small family oriented ski areas for 40 years, sometimes profitably, sometimes not. I can assure you of at least one thing, It isn't simple

Sounds good to me! FWIW, Lincoln County runs the Pine Creek ski area near Cokeville, WY.

Several years ago they advertised "Free Skiing" on the last day of their season. I had a great time......

Song Mountain replaced its beginner J-Bar with a Doppelmayr double. I'm guessing it came used from Cranmore, NH.

Mount Snows new lift, "Bluebird Express," I think I spotted a yellow bubble. Anyone know why there is a yellow bubble?

Mt. Snow painted chair #50 on all their lifts gold for their 50th anniversary. They were so popular that they kept them and have continued the tradition with new lifts.
