Stratton Update

I was up at Stratton this past summer and managed to get a few pictures. It looks like the American Express lift is a new color (it's now silver, used to be black). I think that this has been the case for several seasons now.

There was also a Pontiac Grand Prix Express at Blue Mountain but I'm assuming that's no more.

Steamboat's Gondola is known as the "Silver Bullet Gondola," although I think the Silver Bullet was removed from the name so as to not have the lift related to a beer, however, many longtime skiers still call it "Silver Bullet."

there is a plaque in the bottom station commemorating the construction completion that calls it the silver bullet, other than that there are no other indications of the old name

This one is also of the American Express lift, this time a side-shot:

This picture is from several years ago. It was taken from one of the cabins on Stratton's gondola. Those moguls don't look to nice...

Is that the only sponsored lift name in North America?
Sponsored lift names are fairly common down here, some major resorts do it as much as they can, but a few resorts have held out against the wave of sponsorship.
Some lifts change names every few years when they get a new sponsor, such as the detachable quad at Perisher Blue resort which was originally "Perisher Express" but changed to "Freelander" and changed again to "Forester".
A couple of years ago, Mt Buller named their new six pack "Holden" (after a car company) which complimented their "Emirates" Quad (named after an airline).
I guess this marketing works for newbies to a resort, but old hands usually call the lift by it's old name. At Falls Creek resort, everyone still calls one of their detachable quads "Halleys" even though it has had two name changes since it was called that.

A little off topic, but these are some pics from Mt. Snow, which now has a different lift color scheme:

The bottom terminal was repainted black. The chairs and towers are still whitish-gray. I think the top terminal might have been repainted.

Just as an update, American Express has once again been repainted; it is now black with green supports again, which matches the main lift color scheme for the mountain.
