I love vintage pictures. This is White Pass in 1964.

I want snow years like that! Any snow year that makes a chairlift a surface lift is a good year.

Great pic!

Some pictures of my local abandoned ski area (skyline) that I shot yesterday.

Posted Image
One of the old rope tows. The rope has fallen off of the drive wheel.

Posted Image
The drive for the above rope tow. Hard to believe this thing was functional just a few years ago. Notice the use of sheave liners.

Posted Image
Another discombobulated rope tow. The rope of this one was fairly new and was probably only used for one season before the area closed. This tow served the most popular terrain on the hill. It is a shame to see it in such bad shape.

Posted Image
The chairlift is still in pretty good shape yet.

Posted Image
The worlds most simple chairlift controls. Two buttons: start and stop.

How much vertical is the ski area? The lift looks to be over 1000 feet long.

PS. Nice Weimaraner, I have two.

I am not exactly sure in the stats for this ski area but I can say that it does not have much vert. However the area that the chairlift serves is pretty drawn out so the lift is pretty long for such a small hill.

Id say Skyline is about 180-200'. The Hall is um.... Steel.

I was in Vail yesterday and got some good photos of many of the lifts, including the High Noon Express lift (which is due to open by mid-December):

The High Noon Express lift is almost complete. The chairs still need to be added on, but otherwise, it's complete (from what I saw).

A shot of the upper terminal (apologies for the fact that this doesn't show all of the terminal, but I was taking this photo from the deck at Buffalo's)

A better shot. A little extra note is that when getting off the Northwoods Express lift, I could see the lift grips.

The old Ski Team lift at Park City. Only the towers remain, no top or base terminals.

That's probably better, it was sad to see the Ski Team terminals all boarded up. I wonder if someone bought it

Are the sheave assemblies still up? I can't see from the pics? It looks like the sheave trains might be there, but not the sheaves themselves... Sorry not as good of eyes as most I'm guessing....

Neat pic, sad to see it go, always a favorite of mine at PCMR.

The sheaves are still on. Always liked the old days when the base terminal shared a tower with the old Payday L/E triple.
