Was that an old t-bar from mammoth, or did that place have the lift built specially?

I am not sure. It looked like a Yan lift.

The Cirque platter (detachable) at Snowmass has a left hand bend in the line - they use a 45 degree canted depression sheave on the return side that pushes the grip out of the way.

Not quite a curve, but in the early '80s Fortress Mtn. (Alberta) had a T-bar built in a diamond shape. The wide points were on the summit with the top & bottom points down either side. It was loaded on both sides.

Ah, a yo-yo lift: one that loads both ways. Two types:
V - load station in the middle with two top terminals at either end.
^ - two load stations at either terminus with a common unload station somewhere in the middle.

I think Deer Valley has one of ^ yo-yos. Any others out there?

There is one at Winter Park. I know of alot of lifts that are downloadable, but only in the summer time like the Magic Mile Express at Timberline and Pine Marten Express at Bachelor.

Actually, I believe that lifts rated for full down loading capacity are fairly common - Telluride has two fixed grip and three gondolas rated for full capacity in both directions.

I'm curious about the yo-yo designs.

DV's is an up-and=over HSQ with loading at both ends, or you could say ^. No mid-station though.
The old Yan triple that was there before had a mid-unload at the highest point of the line for the downloading side, and you could onlu download that far and ski the rest of the way. Now you have to ride the lift all the way down. The old mid-unload was right next to someone's enormous house

On an HSQ is it possible to have a mid-terminal (not a mid-Load/Unload station) that turns the lift any number of degrees? and how fast is it possible to run a chair through a terminal of this sort?

Yes, a lift was built like this over in Europe by Leitner-Poma last summer. The lift is not a HSQ thought, but a HSS.

Speed through this type of terminal would be the same as any other detachable terminal- between 150-350 FPM or so.

Zephyer Express has 100% downloading. Gemini has downloading every other chair. Arrow has downloading every 4 chairs. I'm not sure of Summit Express is 100% downloading or not.

Breck has two other lifts with angles mid-line: Chair 5 has a depression/support setup where the depressions provide the turn, and the Horseshoe T-Bar is a completely triangular lift with the turn sitting midway up the loaded side.

When does chair 5 turn?
