Wildhorse gondola in Steamboat:
I tried to attach these photos with no luck, so here they are linked to photobucket:

Looks like it's coming along nicely. Big improvement from the last time I saw that terminal which was on the computer at LPOA.

I suppose it helps to have friends in high places, cause otherwise I don't know how you get the Air National Guard to help your ski resort like that.

Does anyone know per chance where this triple came from before it ended up in Wisconsin?

Cool to see the sigma cabins on the gondola.

The first of February brought new snow to Steamboat as well as the on schedule opening of Colorado's only new lift for 09/10. It is a short 2-3 minute ride that I'd recomend! It is free to the public so if you make a trip to the 'boat park in the meadows lot & make the short walk to the lower terminal instead of taking the shuttles.

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think that Steamboat (the company that operates the mountain) payed for this lift to be put in. I remember a press release saying that Intrawest declined to fund this project, otherwise it would have been a detachable lift. If this is the case then it is not fair to say that it was a bad use of money for them.

They did go back & forth on installing a detachable, this lift ended up being fully paid for by the developer of the condo complex next to the bottom terminal (thus why ski time square & other areas have yet to be addressed) - you can read the full history of this lift here: http://coloradoskihi...p?t=999&start=0
The tennis center will remain, but most of the open space around it will be built out. here's a rendering of the approved master plan:

I knew that Intrawest did not fund the gondola, but look at at that development! A pulse isn't gonna cut it!

If any of you Whistler guys are reading this. What height did you put your loading and unloading decks from the top of the seat? Just curious if you did anything different as it is a "pedestrian only" lift?
