Mt. Bachelor's Pine Marten Express lost one of its tower heads/lift frames this winter, most likely during the ice storm.
pine_marten_tower.jpg

Update - Lifting frame on tower 14 still missing, but Mt. Bachelor is attempting to replace the entire tower head this fall. When the lift frame was torn off, it significantly damaged the tower head leaving huge holes in the box beam. If you look closely in Cameron's photo, they welded 1/2" steel plate over the damaged area. The Mt. Bachelor lift mechanics attribute the damage not just to ice load on the lifting frame, but that tower also had a separate comm line providing network connectivity to the Pine Marten lodge, and it was attached to the top of the lifting frame. Ice load and wind on the extra comm line assisted in making the lifting frame go away.

Well, the road the goes by it is VT 125, but as for a nearby highway I think I-91 is closest in eastern VT, about 40 miles away.

PCMR Town Lift was running on Thursday, July 30th. This was taken and sent to me by my brother who stopped off at Park City with his family.
Last year I rode that lift and I really enjoyed to ride and had nice view trees, Park City area and Deer Valley area. The lift kepting back and forth slow and fast and it sometimes stops for people unload or load. After I rode that then I rode down Payday lift...it made me crazy....it was soooooo slowly (I am aware the lift has to slow because the people unload at the mid-station for ride apline slide and zipper riders. Winter time the lift go up speed

ya it is pretty remote. the drive up from rt 7 is one of the coolest winding drives in Vermont between E. Middlebury and Ripton. The Breadloaf wilderness which boarders it is a no human impact area and it is kept in a virgin state. Cool funky little area, never crowded and cheap tickets!

The chairlift on skier's picture is situated in Pontresina, a small village about 15 minutes by car from the world famous skiresort St. Moritz. This chair was built by Bachmann (also called BACO, which stands for "Bachmann & Co.") an Poma. Baco was founded at the end of the fifties by Marcel Bachmann. 1980 the company started to collaborate with Poma, who (or which?) finally bought Baco in 2000.
These days Baco is representative of Poma in Switzerland. Their website: www.baco-ag.ch
By the way: I visited the installation this summer:

Wow...cool pictures and fantastic to see the lift.
See the something covers the grips. Is the cover protect the grips from rain and snow due rusts?

No, these caps on the grips give them the ability to pass the angle station. :)
